Random shot from some footage I shot recently. I know next to nothing about the film and was just doing B cam for like half of the day for a friend of mine as a favour. I graded this in Davinci and was going for a more gritty look (without grain). I'm digging the look. Wanted feedback on the grade.

This was shot with my UMP G2 and SLR magic APO 50mm and easy rig. Think I was shooting wide open @T 2.1 with 1/4 HB diffusion. Really liking this combination.

I dig it. Faces and skin pop but aren't soft, black levels are black (I hate the milky low contrast trend nowadays).

I wouldn't really describe this as gritty, looks pretty natural with a "movie" feel to me. I would push the grit by desat some areas, a little green/cyan here and there and put a little bleach bypass on for a more "hard" feel.

Warming it up a little more while maintaining the skin tones with some midtone detail boost will also make it a harder look, I think.

All speculation since I can't play around with it But I like the look.

Yeah I wouldn't say I'm getting a gritty vibe from it at all. It's warm, inviting, colorful, and beautiful. It feels like a modern commercial that aims for more of that Alexa/artistic kind of vibe..

I love it. Because I am new to the pocket 6K, I kind of fall into the trying to keep a lot of dynamic range boat (flatter look), but I dig this bolder look and would love to know your process!

    Thanks for the feedback peeps

Yeh I dont dig the flat look as I believe these cameras have such great colour science that it should be shown up. For this I used a fuji film lut and graded from there. Warmed up the White balance also.
