I have used DiskDrill in the past and managed to extract files from drives that couldn't be mounted. It saved me a couple of times in that regard. It even managed to read an external drive that had a power cord plugged out by a child while in use. The drive appeared as formatted in raw and unformatable to any other system and DiskDrill extracted all the files in the correct file structure.

We had a disk go bad last week. Same deal… would not mount in OSX. We have Data Rescue 4, an older application. We used the previous version once when another disk crashed a few years ago. We weren't sure it would work but we gave it a go. You could see the disk and all the data came off clean.

Not really. I've been working with the chaps at Aero Quartet (who have been FANTASTIC) and we've managed to salvage around 16 minutes (of the 30min), the first 5 mins being perfect but after that it has stuttering glitches all over the footage so it's almost unusable.

The cFast card wasn't the problem, it's the camera. So I'm a bit worried for future jobs now.

The G2 REALLY needs to arrive now.

How did you determine it was the camera and not the cFast ?

They probably extracted all the data that was on the card and then tested by writing to the card.

From Aero Quartet conversation via email : "We took a deeper look of the samples received from your damaged file and found that unfortunately there's a critical failure in the data encoding of the file. Somehow after a while there's a constant garbage bitstream that affects both Audio and Video frames....the card has enough speed, with a lot of margin, so it is not the culprit of the failure. The video glitches are defects coming from the encoding stage (we have discarded the card, so it only can be the URSA)."
