  1. #1 Unofficial, official renaming of the PCC4k
Hello everyone, since the announcement I have thought the name of the new pocket camera just doesn't fit not only the phisical dememsions but also it never conjers any inspiration at least for me. In the world of Alexas, ursas, Venices, the Genesis and even the simple Red (epic, dragon, Raven, one) all of those names carry a certain pizzazz that pocket camera 4k just doesn't contain. I was thinking that because the Ursa is named after the constellation for the bear (I have not confirmed this with BMD, only assuming) that we could nickname the pocket also after a constellation. I know this is not technical at all, nor does it truly matter when making great imagery, but for the sake of not having such a mouthful and not confusing it with the original pocket, would the community be up for this?

    My votes so far are:

    ARA – THE ALTAR

    CANIS – THE DOG

    CARINA – THE KEEL

    CETUS – THE WHALE

CORVUS – THE RAVEN (a little homage to red there)

DRACO – THE DRAGON (again, a wink a red)

    ORION – THE HUNTER

    VELA – THE SAILS

Keeping out the ultra known one for the most part, what do you guys/gals think? Again this is just for fun but I think it would be cool to a have a user generated name holding up a product. If you find this stupid please just look the other way, if not, weigh in!

Or the Pocket name of the Pocket line could simply be seen as a metaphor. Like how the Macbook Air isn't actually light as air. Or the Macbook Pro isn't actu.. Alright, won't go there, but you get the idea.
I'm perfectly fine with the current name!

I'd go for FELIS (meaning 'cat', which Wikipedia tells me is a no longer recognized constellation), because that's what most people on these forums will be shooting with it ^^

That it doesn't actually fit in a pocket is besides the point. This is Hollywood Cinema quality in a very small size. I think Pocket Cinema Camera 4K is the perfect name - P4K for short.

I still like the name it was originally gonna have, the Ursa Micro. I also wouldn't mind if they adopted the Ursa name to distinguish it from the first group of cinema cameras but also payed homage to it's lineage and was called the Ursa Pocket.

I suppose Ursa Minor wouldn't be awful either.
