Interesting evaluation of the GH5s, with (supposedly) the same sensor as the new Pocket. It says dynamic range in HLG is actually 14.6 stops?!

    https://www.newsshooter.com/2018/04/...bu-assessment/

"According to Alanís testing, the GH5s dynamic range is about 14.6 stops in HLG, which is said was a creditable performance. CineLike-D is about 13.9 stops and Like709 about 10.3 stops with the Knee switched off."

Hmm I have some doubts about this article.

Yeah, I’ve seen some BS dynamic range numbers but 14.6 stops for a GH5s takes the cake. How are they even getting that number?

Any news about Blackmagic release official footage about Pocket4K? I've read somewhere that it could be very soon (May?)

Nikon Mount SB is mechanical on,y, no electronic info is transferred, so IS does not work. The electronic interface in the EF SB adds to its cost, however.
    Cheers
Thank you for the confirmation, much appreciated.
    Pocket 4K "Chaplin".

I've tested the GH5s. 11-12 stops usable DR in V-LOG L or HLG depending on your personal tolerance for noise floor.

Probably not till right before the release. Both Pocket V1 and BMCC footage was not released till just before camera release. Maybe they will change the practice....

Any word on if this camera will process in camera software corrections for distortion on native M43 lenses? Thinking about the distortion on wide angles on Olympus 12-40mm.

No, no info on this has been released that I am aware of. The original BM Pocket Camera had no in csmera kens corrections. I would be greatly surprised if BM adds this to the new PC4K.

Traditionally, only Panny and Oly MFT Cameras did this type of processing for MFT lenses. That said, the Oly 12-40 has fairly well controlled distortion, but still exhibits some barrel distortion at 12mm , and more than the Panny Leica 12mm, which has very little distortion for a 12mm lens. That said, all WA (12-18mm) lenses have some barrel distortion, what is important is however, is CA is controlled at the edges, and both the Oly 12-40 and the Panny Leica lenses have well controlled CA.
    Cheers
