Indeed Kholi, it's with the latest. Sorry I haven't responded to that email yet. I'll send an email shortly.

Hey jsfilmz, thanks for posting those tests! Do you have any of the original files to download?

Yes, few small samples of original footage would be great. BMMCC footage RAW compare to ProRes compare to GH5 log shoot of same scene. The main problem with these kind of tests is that you can grade and compress dynamic range of same footage in very very different way.

He uploaded both raw files here:

Can someone apply kholi's comet LUT to the GH5 raw file to see how it looks?

    @ jsfilmz
First of all thank you for these videos, very useful!

But you must have done something wrong in the GH5 LUTs in Resolve in your video, as someone on YT pointed out:

    GH5, your version:
    GirlFiume_GH5 vs Micro Cinema Camera.mp4_jsfilm.jpg

    GH5, corrected one:
    Gh5VsMicroCinemaCamera-Youtube_CorrectedREC709_+++++.jpg

Look at the shirt, blue vs white. but also the green on the background is... brown not green.
The GH5 corrected version looks nice. I'd love to compare that to comet LUT.

13 stop dynamic range vs. maybe 10 and a half stop dynamic range and raw. I don't need a test. Sure you can get similar results. But i still prefer the BMMCC.

Just for fun. Only white balanced to grey card.
Timeline set to Cineon log gamma, Sony S-Gamut3.Cine gamut
Output - 1D LUT generated in LUTCalc (Cineon to Amira709), Color Space transform node S-Gamut3.Cine to Rec709

There is a huge IR pollution in BMMCC samples (Probably ND filter used) so all greens looks brown. BTW i noticed that even with proper IR filter greens are always weaker than usual in BM cameras compared to other cameras. Also lighting conditions and depth of field is way too different to compare cameras in this way. Overall this is just one more proof that GH5 have less Dynamic range compared to BMMCC RAW. And that GH5 is sharper because 4K, build in digital oversharp, oversaturation and less dynamic range provide more hard contrast look.

In the pocket and micro the red and blue channels are gained to offset the disparity in the number of pixels sampled. There is no correction in the color matrix which is why they lack saturated greens.

Anybody want to do the math on the GH5 s16 crop? I haven't been impressed with the GH line since the 2 but this thing is looking pretty solid. It will be interesting to see the firmware rollouts.
