Who can tell me how to make a custom Lanc expansion cable for the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera. I just need to know how to connect the wires. Lanc connection only.

The LANC connector has a tip/ring (middle bit) and sleeve (lower/larger part of the plug. The BM Micro camera DB15 pins are:
pin 9 - tip (LANC data)
    10 - ring (LANC power)
    11 - Sleeve (ground)

The PIN numbers are printed on the DB15 connector, use them and not the diagram in the manual.
    Cheers

Bingo, If you are using a commercially made LANC cable to start with, you will need a meter to check which wired go to the plug tip/ring/sleeve, then solder them to the pin out I gave above. Different manufacturers use different color wires, their is not a standard here. The sleeve is useually the cable shield wire, so you only need to sort the tip and ring out.

Kim, I do not see a BM Micro DB15 to LANC cable on this site, just Sony adapters. They state they do Not make custom cables either.

    Cheers.

I guess one could buy a Lan controller (generic one of choice presumably) then cut the lanc plug end off and connect the appropriate wires up to one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/D-SUB-Femal...Q9WS0H6CFX6NJE) and there you have a lanc controller on the micro?

No need to buy a LANC controller to get the cable. Radio Shack sells the TRS connector, with an attached cable, with the other end tinned, and ready to solder.

That's too much work. I'll just take the original cable, cut it open, cut the wires except for the Lanc cable then use Sugru to seal the deal. Thanks guys!

Absolutely. I was stating on the basis one didn't have the lanc controller in the first place.

I've successfully turned the original cable into 1 Lanc cable. I've tested it with the URSA Mini 4.6K grip and it actually works. I'm just waiting to get my hands on some Sugru. I've also done research and found out that the Varizoom Vzrock C-100 Lanc controller works with Blackmagic cameras. I'll update this forum as soon as I get mines in the mail.
